BLURB:
The second installment in the epic Starbound trilogy introduces a new pair of star-crossed lovers on two sides of a bloody war.

Jubilee Chase and Flynn Cormac should never have met.

Lee is captain of the forces sent to Avon to crush the terraformed planet's rebellious colonists, but she has her own reasons for hating the insurgents.

Rebellion is in Flynn's blood. Terraforming corporations make their fortune by recruiting colonists to make the inhospitable planets liveable, with the promise of a better life for their children. But they never fulfilled their promise on Avon, and decades later, Flynn is leading the rebellion.

Desperate for any advantage in a bloody and unrelentingly war, Flynn does the only thing that makes sense when he and Lee cross paths: he returns to base with her as prisoner. But as his fellow rebels prepare to execute this tough-talking girl with nerves of steel, Flynn makes another choice that will change him forever. He and Lee escape the rebel base together, caught between two sides of a senseless war.

The stunning second novel in the Starbound trilogy is an unforgettable story of love and forgiveness in a world torn apart by war.

A Sophisticated Sci-fi With Intelligent Plot & Culturally Diverse Characters!!

REVIEW:
The story:
Jubilee Chase is a military captain serving on Avon to help protect the people of this young planet. Flynn Cormac, in charge of the rebel movement, he doesn't want to see his home torn apart by violence and war. But most importantly he wants answers as to why Avon's tera-forming is not progressing as it should. Jubilee and Flynn are on opposite sides of the war on Avon, but as they are forced to work together, they start to realise that there may be another common enemy that is the real reason Avon is crumbling.

This Shattered World was a surprising read for me. It was quite different to These Broken Stars, not just in the actual story but also the overall feel. While TBS was a story of survival and romance, TSW is primarily focussed on war and conspiracy theories revolving around the strange things occurring on the plant Avon. The story revolves around the complexities of human nature.

I was excited to see the 'whispers' were back, raising more questions about these mysterious creatures and their place in the universe. This was such a thrilling and facilitating story, and while TBS is still my favourite book of the series,TSW does not disappoint!

The characters:
Let's just take a moment and applaud Kaufman & Spooner for the amazing character diversity is this book!

Jubilee is part Chinese, and her cultural background is referenced throughout the story. I loved her spirit and strength. She has fiery attitude - she's fierce and determined. It was excellent to see Jubilee making her own decisions, she never blindly believed anyone, instead she looked at the situation in front of her and make up her own mind as to what needed to be done.

Flynn is Irish, I could actually hear the lilt of his accent in the dialogue. Flynn is such a sweet character, especially for someone who's a rebel. He doesn't want war and distraction and is set on finding a peaceful outcome for everyone. He's passionate and dedicated to protecting his home and it's people.

I actually squealed when Lilac & Tarver made an appearance! All the feels from TBS came flooding back. They both have an interesting part to play in this story - but that's all I'm going to say...

The romance:
I'll be honest, there wasn't much romance in this book, and certainly less than there was in These Broken Stars. But for this particular story, it seemed natural that the romance would take a back seat. The connection between Flynn and Jubilee was always there in the background, slowly building, and never never forced. You could feel the attraction growing despite them both fighting what they believed could never happen. The few romantic moments that do occur were so heartfelt and poignant.

The writing:
Kaufman & Spooner write with such expressive language, it's simply sensational. Scenes are described in such vivid detail, I would spell the earthy scent of the swamp water, see the 'will o wisps' floating through the air - it made this books so real, it felt like I had been sucked into their world.

Like TBS, there are mini chapters between each POV chapter. I will admit they made no sense to me what so ever, and I didn't get the meaning of them until quite late in the book. But once I did - wow.

FINAL WORD:
With an exciting & intelligent plot and culturally diverse characters, This Shattered World is a breathtaking sequel in this epic and sophisticated sci-fi series!

CONTENT:
Sexuality: mild / some kissing and very minor references to 'hooking up'
Violence: medium-strong / military based violence, guns, deaths, descriptions of bodies
Language: mild
Drugs & alcohol: mild / some 'underage' drinking which is allowed in this world

BLURB:
A good girl goes fabulously bad in the final book in New York Times bestselling author Sophie Jordan’s sexy New Adult romance series, in which three Ivy League suite-mates seek higher knowledge of just how far they can go.

Months after her boyfriend dumped her, Georgia can still hear the insults he hurled at her. Boring. Predictable. Tame. Tired of feeling bad, she’s ready to change her image, and go a little wild. What better way to prove her ex wrong than a hot night of sexual adventure at the secret campus kink club?

In the shadowy den of the kink club, she unexpectedly runs into Logan Mulvaney, her friend’s little brother. A player extraordinaire too hot for his own good, he may be younger, but the guy is light years ahead when it comes to sexual experience. Now he’s telling her to go home—“good girls” don’t belong here!

Georgia is tired of having others define her. She’s going to teach Logan a lesson he won’t forget—one white hot, mind-wrecking kiss . . . that leads to another . . . and another . . . and. . . . Realizing she’s way in over her head, Georgia runs.

Only Logan won’t let her go. Everywhere she goes he’s there, making her want every inch of him. Making her forget who she is. Who he is. And just how wrong they are for each other.

Wild is a sinfully sexy story that will leaving you wanting more!

REVIEW:
The story:
Georgia's always been the 'good girl', following the rules and doing everything to make her mother proud. But after being dumped by her boyfriend for being too 'boring', she's tired of being lab led the safe, predictable girl and wants to shake up her life. And what better way to do that than by going to a sex club?! Turning up to the Kink Club, she hadn't bargained on running into Logan, her friend's little brother, who's still in high school. But there he is in all his sexy bad boy glory. Both of them are surprised by the immediate sexual attraction that sparks between them, and now neither of them can stop thinking about each other. Can the good girl and oh so sinfully bad boy make a relationship work?

Well I absolutely loved this book! I wasn't so sure I would love the whole Kink Club element, but it was a really nice platform for both characters to meet and grow throughout the story. And that's what this story was all about for me - the character growth. On the surface they are the stereotypical good girl/bad boy couple, but they both discover other sides to their personality, especially Georgia, and I really enjoyed that.

The characters:
Georgia was a lovely character. But her personality is being suffocated by her overbearing and controlling mother. She has had very little say in her life choices and as a result doesn't really know who she is. Georgia does a lot of soul searching, and although at first she's reluctant to make any changes in her life, she slowly started to explore her true identity. She really grows into herself by the end of the story.

So we all know Logan's reputation. He's a player. He doesn't have relationships and he certainly doesn't commit to one woman. At first he comes across as carefree a what appears to be immaturity, after all he's only just graduating from high school. But as we see past his reputation, he comes across as much older that he's 18 years. Growing up with an uncaring, verbally abusive father has caused him to become an adult from early on. He's also extremely sexy - who doesn't love a sinful dirty talker! ;)

“I think you want me to do dirty things to you, Georgia.” ~Logan

YES LOGAN, we all want you to do dirty, dirty things.

The romance:
Opposites most certainly attract with Georgia and Logan! But they bring out the best in each other. With Logan's tough childhood, he's promiscuous lifestyle with the ladies is his only real outlet, until he meets Georgia and starts to want something more. As for Georgia, she's only ever dated guys her mother would approve of and Logan doesn't fit that criteria in the least! But he brings out a sensual passionate side to Georgia that she's been afraid to show, and together they are such an explosively sexy couple!

The writing:
I simply love Sophie Jordan's books. She has a way of creating characters that you can't help but fall in love with, and this one is no different. When we first met Logan in Foreplay he seemed like a character I wouldn't really like, but the character development was so well written that I fell in love with him completely. The entire story flowed so beautifully, with a nice balance between steamy scenes and those sweet and tender moments I just loved!

FINAL WORD:
It's hard to pick a favourite book out of this series, Foreplay was always at the top, but Logan & Georgia's story was just so incredible! Wild is a sinfully sexy story that will leaving you wanting more!

CONTENT:
Sexuality: medium-strong / several sex scenes, some scenes in a 'sex club'

BLURB:
Taking a leap of faith is one thing, but learning to get up when you fall is a whole other story.

After a summer spent with her Aunt Dee in tiny Elsbury, Louisiana, former Chicago princess Libby Gentry traded in her old life for a new one with the southern Casanova, Blaine Crabtree.

But just when she thinks things are changing for the better, old girlfriends of Blaine's start coming back into the picture, and not a single one of them are friendly or bad on the eyes. Combine the worry of passing her first semester at St. Joseph Community College and sponsoring her tomboy cousin in cotillion and Libby can barely keep up.

It's hard to learn to fly on paper wings. They're flimsy and can easily break. But if Libby can mend a broken heart, hopefully she can learn to fly.

On Paper Wings was an excellent follow up to My Paper Heart

REVIEW:
The story:
I was so glad to see that My Paper Heart wasn't the end of Libby's story. She may have grown up a lot in that first book, but I felt she still had a lot of things to learn. She's still struggling with her insecurities, not only with her appearance, but also with her relationship with Blaine. Bumping into a couple of bitter ex lovers of Blaine's doesn't help the situation either. As a result she starts to loose control of her eating disorder and tension between her and Blaine comes to a head. Both characters must learn to have faith in one another for their relationship to work, but can overcome all the obstacles that threaten to break them apart?

The characters:
Libby is still a little immature, she jumps to conclusions and struggles to trust Blaine no matter how hard he tries to show her she's the only girl he wants. She almost has to hit rock bottom before she realises the mistakes she's making and can grow into the woman that everyone around her knows she can be.

Blaine is a much calmer character than Libby. He's more relaxed and secure in their relationship too. But he does have his insecurities, especially when Libby befriends a fellow male student. But overall he trusts Libby and is always there for her when she needs him most.

The romance:
These two have to go through a lot of issues over the course of the relationship. But all these obstacles only make their love stronger. They prove to each other time and time again that nothing will break them apart - so sweet.

The writing:
I love Magan's honest style of writing. Her characters have flaws and make mistakes. And her love scenes are a mix of sexy and sometimes hilariously awkward!

FINAL WORD:
On Paper Wings was an excellent follow up to My Paper Heart. The characters become stronger and more resilient and I loved seeing them grown into the adults I knew they could be!

Sexuality: mild-medium / some minor sex scenes
Violence: mild

Captured Love is a story of misunderstandings, heartache and second chances!

REVIEW:
The story:
Four years ago, Jess's world fell apart. After having her heart broken by her first love Ryan, and a massive fight her father, Jess left her hometown to live with her Grandmother in Ohio. Four years later and she finally has some stability back in life, until she gets the phone call that changes everything. Leaving her safe new life behind she returns home to see her sick father. But confronting her past isn't easy and she struggles to deal with seeing her father and Ryan after all these years.

It was difficult to see Jess in so much pain. She may have believed that she'd moved on after moving to Ohio, but really she was just running away. It's not until she finally deals with the fight she had with her father, and the misunderstandings that happened between her & Ryan that she really started to find peace.

The characters:
Jess is sweet and kind and a very likeable narrator. But she's not without her faults. She has a tendency to jump to conclusions and can be very stubborn. She's also very reluctant to trust anyone, after being hurt by Ryan and her family. But it's these faults that made her character feel very 'real', she's not perfect - but then, nobody is.

Ryan is actually such sweetheart! Yes he's a tatted up bad boy who tends to find himself in trouble a lot. But when it came down to it, it was clear he cared a great deal for Jess. I also loved that he never really gave up on her.

The romance:
It took quite a while for these two to meet up again after all these years. They try to avoid each other, and the inevitable confrontation they had to have. Once they finally to bump into one anther, it's not all fireworks and roses. The hurt and anger is still there, especially for Jess, and it's not easy for her to see past that. I liked that they didn't just jump straight back into a relationship. They had to work through a lot of issues, both together and within themselves. But it just made this romance so real and the ending so much more exciting and epic.

The writing:
Juliana's books are always packed full of emotion. You feel what the characters are going through. Her characters have relatable flaws and make mistakes. The story flows steadily throughout, and built nicely to the conclusion.

FINAL WORD:
Captured Love is a story of misunderstandings, heartache and second chances. Sexy and romantic, this is a fabulous read for any NA or romance lovers!

Sexuality: medium / some sex scenes
Violence: mild

EXCERPT
Ryan
As Luke and Jason chatted about the next race, I leaned against the rail, looking at the stars. After that night under the stars with Jessica, the night she told me I could be anything I wanted to be, I never looked at the night sky the same way. It was like the stars and I shared a secret, as if the night sky knew something about me that no one else did.
Jason leaned on the rail beside me. “What’s up?”
“Nothing.” I glanced over my shoulder. “Where’s Luke?”
“He went to the car to grab a bottle of whiskey.”
“Oh.” Maybe it was time for me to leave. Seeing the guys drinking whiskey while I had to hold back was probably a bad idea.
I looked around, trying to remember where I had parked my car.
“She didn’t come,” Jason said. He must have misinterpreted me and thought I was looking for his sister. “Rachel and Sophie stopped by the house and tried to convince her to come, but since you told her about your past, she’s been quiet. Well, quieter.”
I frowned. “Why?” He shrugged. “I didn’t tell her so she would feel bad about it. I told her because I realized she would find out one way or other. Better if it came from me.”
Jason nodded. “I know.” He tilted his head at me. “Are you okay?”
I chuckled—a sarcastic sound. “Never been better.”
With a hint of pity in his eyes, he placed a hand on my shoulder and squeezed. “You know I’m here for you, man. Whatever the problem is.”
“I know, J-man.” I sighed. However, there was nothing to be done. My problem was with the past, and unfortunately, I couldn’t change it. Neither could I let it go.
Luke showed up with the whiskey bottle. “Dude, it took me a few minutes to find it. I thought I had forgotten it.”
I glanced at the bottle, then at Jason. Comprehension spread across his face.
“Luke, maybe we shouldn’t drink that tonight,” Jason said.
Luke’s face fell, but a second later, he nodded. “Right. Of course.”
“Nah, it’s okay.” I pushed against the rail. “I have to wake up early tomorrow, so I’m gonna go. But you guys should drink that whiskey and have a good time.”
“Ryan, you don’t need to go,” Jason started.
I shook my head. “No, I do.” I wasn’t kidding about waking up early. After all, I had to be at the Habitat for Humanity site at eight sharp. As much as I wanted to stay and drink—Coke—with them, I knew my mood wasn’t great for company. “See you guys soon.”
Jason and Luke smacked my shoulder as I walked past them. The party went on as I walked by. I smiled, but inwardly, I envied them. I still had a wild night here and there, but if I could help it, they happened rarely. Meanwhile, these people could drink and stay out all night long. They could have fun; they could enjoy themselves, guiltlessly.
With a long exhale, I slipped into my Mustang and pulled away before I gave in to temptation and joined them.

Tiffany King & Christina Lee Stand Out In This Lovely Set Of NA Romace Novellas!

REVIEW:
When We Met is a set of four New Adult romance, short stories. Often short stories lack a little something for me as there isn't enough time to build strong characters and  develop their stories. However the beauty of these novellas is that they all focus on a group of friends living in one house. Their stories intertwine and you get the overall feeling of reading one regular length story, about of the group of girls. All four authors writing styles complement one another and each novella flows perfectly onto the next.

Behind Her Eyes by A.J. Jackson:
Micha is very sweet and quite a shy girl. She's recently been hurt by guy, who deceived her badly, and now she's very reluctant to trust any man again. But the new guy next door Darryn has a way of getting under her skin. I loved seeing Micha grow and learn to trust again, but I would have loved to of seen her become stronger on her own. It felt like she came to rely on Darryn to 'save her', when it would have been great to see her take control of her life and see that she didn't need saving.

Saving Me by Molly McAdams:
On the surface, Indy is a party girl. She has a past that she wants to forget. She goes wild at night and next morning she can't remember how she got back to her room, and who took care of her. Kier is the complete opposite, he's very quite but extremely sweet. And while their story took a little while for me to get into it was really cute. Keir truly respects Indy and all he wants is to see her safe and happy - awww.

Falling Out by Tiffany King:
Courtney and Dalton used to be childhood friends. They were inseparable until slowly Dalton's basketball training took over and they drifted apart. Courtney was hurt and felt like Dalton deserted her, choosing sport over their friendship. But now that they are older, Dalton wants a second chance of friendship...and possibly more. I absolutely loved that Courtney made Dalton work for it. Their falling out might have been years ago, but it was great to see Dalton prove how much he cared for her. I loved the sexual tension that bubbled throughout the entire story and just exploded off the page by the end! I absolutely loved this one!

Beneath Your Layers by Christina Lee:
Chloe & Blake are complete opposites, she's very driven and passionate to succeed in the fashion world. While Blake dropped out of college for mysterious reasons and works in the construction business. Chloe plans everything and has a million post it notes, while Blake likes to be carefree and spontaneous. Pushed together to work on a project for Blake's Aunty's clothing shop where Chloe works, they are forced to spend time together. And this when things get interesting. To pass the time they play truth or dare, and the flirty banter that goes back and forth is fabulous! I wanted to grab their faces and make kissy noises. I also loved as they got to know each other better they respected each other's differences. These two were just so adorable together!

FINAL WORD:
I enjoyed all four novellas, although my favourites would have to be be Falling Out and Beneath Your Layers. The character and story development was beautiful and they both had a perfect balance of humour and romance!
